Our primary focus is on women’s self-sufficiency through self-employment, as well as increasing the quality of available, accessible and affordable child care.

History of Midwest Child Care Association

MCCA was founded by Janet White Phelan in 1979 as a Child Care Resource and Referral Agency and has for many years served as the Nebraska representative to the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (NACCRRA). http://www.naccrra.org/

In 1980, MCCA was approved to sponsor the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to licensed and approved child care homes across NE. In July of 2007 in addition to family child care homes, MCCA began to sponsor the CACFP to licensed child care centers.

The board of Directors of MCCA develops policies for the agency and the Executive Director and her staff carry out those policies as approved by the Board.
