About Us

Mission Statement

To provide information and support services to child care personnel and working parents in the state of Nebraska.

History of Midwest Child Care Association

MCCA was founded by Janet White Phelan in 1979 as a Child Care Resource and Referral Agency and has for many years served as the Nebraska representative to the National Association of Child Care Resource and Referral Agency (NACCRRA). http://www.naccrra.org/

In 1980, MCCA was approved to sponsor the USDA Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) to registered and approved child care homes across NE. In July of 2007, in addition to family child care homes MCCA began to sponsor the CACFP to licensed day care centers.

The board of Directors of MCCA develops policies for the agency and the Executive Director and her staff carry out those policies as approved by the Board.

MCCA has always been considered a leader in the fields of early childhood development and child care. It has won many distinguished awards and has been called upon to serve on numerous committees and boards representing working parents and child care providers.

Our Primary Responsibility

Our primary responsibility is to provide the USDA - Child and Adult Care Food Program to women who care for children in their homes. We have a membership of about 800 providers throughout the state. We train these women in the business of child care and early childhood education. Besides the monthly training workshops at our offices, we offer continuing education credits on our web site.
